Principality of Liechtenstein
In the Heart of Europe, Internationally Connected
The Principality of Liechtenstein has almost 40,000 inhabitants and is located in the heart of Europe, between Switzerland and Austria. The city of Zurich is one hour away. Munich is two hours by car, and most European cities can be reached within two hours via Zurich Airport or via the small airport in Altenrhein, which is only half an hour from our headquarters in Vaduz.
Liechtenstein offers a very stable political, economic, and legal environment, providing the ideal basis for various private and business needs. The Principality celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2019. The number of jobs, especially in the financial sector and the innovative high-tech industry, is almost equal to the number of inhabitants.
Liechtenstein is a member of the European Economic Area. A customs treaty with Switzerland has been in place since 1923. This opens up excellent opportunities and direct access to both Switzerland and the EU. As a result, Liechtenstein offers strong passporting to the rest of the world.
One of Liechtenstein’s key advantages is the availability of all relevant services within short distances. This enables flexibility and quick decision-making within a legal framework supervised by the Financial Market Authority.
The tax system in Liechtenstein is very straightforward. It features a flat tax rate of 12.5% on the taxable net income of legal entities, a minimum income tax of CHF 1,800.00, and a current VAT rate ranging from 2.5% to 8.1 %.
The introduction allows for solid corporate capitalization without losing debt-related benefits such as interest deductions.
Corporate Forms
Liechtenstein Foundations
The Liechtenstein Foundation is an independent legal entity without shareholders, ideally suited for asset protection, estate planning, or pursuing a charitable purpose. Liechtenstein’s foundation law offers a wide range of flexible solutions to meet your needs and ensure intergenerational wealth preservation.
Our corporate services include the establishment of foundations, the creation of statutes and by-laws tailored to your needs, obtaining legal opinions if necessary, and organizing ongoing administration.
Liechtenstein Trusts
As an alternative to the Liechtenstein Foundation, you can opt for a trust solution. Since 1926, Liechtenstein has been the only Central European country with its own trust law in the Anglo-Saxon style. This gives you the opportunity to incorporate this legal form into your planning. At the same time, it allows us to advise you even more efficiently and comprehensively.
